A few instructions:
1. Contact the pilots before and after you, after you have received an email. Your method of contact (phone call or email) and where to meet is entirely up to you. All I ask is that details for the transitions are worked out before hand and the flight and transition happen as quickly as possible. Keep in mind that we have over 300 pilots in our adventure and that you are a pivotal point in this project. Unreasonable delays have a ripple effect that we may not be able to recover from. Please make it a priority to safely fly the plane, snap a lot of photos, and pass the plane along as quickly as possible. Group fly's are always encouraged if at all possible.
2. I also ask that you review the Quick Links on our website. Specifically the Battery Charging and the Pre & Postflight instructions. Also review the guidelines if you have not seen them recently. Click here to see them.
3. If you know you will be out of town or your job takes you away before you have flown the plane please call/email me and the pilots before and after you to let us know. We need to communicate amongst ourselves to help expedite the plane along its route. If you have other problems which will impact your flight and transfer of the plane please let me know about that also. The best way to do this is to reply to all on your emails unless you need to tell me something specifically. We had a communication failure in the 2 nd group of pilots which really slowed things down. I don't want that to happen again.
4. Attached is the Generic Press Release for the WAA-08 adventure. I highly recommend you fill in your specific information and contact your local newspaper and/or TV news station about our adventure. Our goal is to spread the word and promote our hobby and this is how we are doing it. Please take a moment to fill in the blanks and contact your local news media. It's great to read/hear about something good on the news for a change. Please contact me if you do get a story in the paper, we have a publicity link on our site that we share with other WAA-08 pilots.
5. Pictures! Don't forget to take lots of pictures. I would especially like to have one of you and the plane standing by your flying field sign. And, if you live nearby or are passing by an interesting landmark or historical area, it would be awesome if you could snap a photo of it. If you can include the WAA-08 plane in the photo, that would be a huge bonus.
6. Last but not least. Have Fun! This is a once in a lifetime adventure that you helped make happen. And we really appreciate your participation. What to do when it's my turn to fly the WAA-08 airplane? |
